Leicester knows a thing or two about putting on good comedy events, but Judith Critchly has now set up a regular monthly event called Tickled Pink with the aim of shining a light on female comedy. With the events building a growing audience we caught up with her to find out more.

Tell us a bit about your Tickled Pink comedy nights?
I started my comedy night to shine a light on the female comedians out there, to give them exposure and to give me a chance to begin my stand up routine. As far as I’m aware my comedy night is the only monthly female line up in the Midlands.

And when is the next event?
My next comedy night is Thursday 25th April at Brewdog in Leicester and they take place every month.

Who are the events aimed at?
If you’re  fans of women in comedy and want to experience comedy from a woman’s perspective, come along.
Locally I have enjoyed on my line up: Hannah Silvester, Sarah Johnson and Ishi Khan Jackson.

Who are some of your favourite female comedians on the circuit at the minute?
Recently I have enjoyed Kiri Pritchard-McLean, Jen Brister and Angela Barnes.

Being a comedian yourself and performing at the events how would you describe your own blend of comedy?
My stand up style is observational and I use my 10 minutes to raise awareness of living with a mental health condition.

Leicester has built up such a great reputation for hosting live comedy, what are some of your favourite venues?
My favourite comedy venues in Leicester are Firebug, Brewdog, The Shed and The Cookie.

How can people keep up to date with your latest events?
Search for Tickled Pink Comedy on Facebook to keep up to date with forthcoming gigs.
