One of Birmingham’s leading Indian restaurants, Varanasi, is set to expand to Leicester later this year.

The fine dining restaurant with opulent interior has been a big hit in Birmingham. Voted the city’s most Instagrammable restaurant, the interior has been created to offer a lavish and immersive experience, most importantly though they have the food to match.

The owner of Varanasi travelled the globe to research the finest bars and restaurants before developing the concept in Birmingham and now Leicester. Having seen a large number of customers travel from Leicester to Birmingham to visit the restaurant the owners decided that here is the ideal spot for their second venue.

The restaurant will offer fine dining with flavours from both north and south Indian cuisine to offer an eclectic menu. Varanasi will also offer an extensive dry bar with the restaurant being 100% non-alcoholic. Owners commented that they’d seen a reduction in the amount of people ordering alcohol so have instead chosen to focus on the very best non-alcoholic offerings available across spirits, cocktails and beers.

At Varanasi it’s about the full experience. The owners stated that for them it’s not simply a meal out but an opportunity to escape, which they capture through music, ambience and the restaurant’s fabulous interior. On the menu you can expect classic dishes alongside reworkings of traditional favourites, plus new dishes for every season, from soft shell crab to spiced smoky duck.

“Our passion at Varanasi is to deliver an unparalleled dining journey, to explore the richness of tastes and contrasts in textures.”

Varanasi is set to open on High Street in late October 2021. For full information visit the Varanasi website.
