Have you ever thought about looking for art in the… toilets? Probably not, but now you should thanks to a brand new art trail across Leicester.

The Accessible Art for All project is part of Liberty UK Festival and spans 5 cities, including Leicester. The project takes over local café or cultural venue toilets with temporary art installations by international artists.

In Leicester you can find the toilet art in LCB Depot, Highcross Shopping Centre, The Exchange Bar, Manhattan34 and Leicester Museum and Art Gallery. Leicester is the first place to be exhibiting the project with others including Rome, Hamburg and Sofia.

Artists due to exhibit in the unusual location include Richard DeDomenici, who has exhibited work at the Tate Gallery and the British Museum. Others include Yara El-Sherbini, Oliwia Bober, Vishal Joshi and The Rebel Bear.

The idea behind the project is that many people may think of galleries as challenging places whereas the toilet is a space that everybody uses.

The project is part of the wider Liberty UK Festival, running in Leicester until 15 August.
