In the face of increased restrictions and a new curfew it’s important to remember that our city centre businesses are still open, they’re working hard to be safe, and are keen to welcome customers.

Leicester’s food scene is unrecognisable from a few years ago. Incredible independents, locally sourced produce used across menus, varying cuisines, perfect family options, and a whole manner of choices for after shopping, date night, or catching up with friends.

For this week’s BID Spotlight we’re looking at a few of our favourite city centre casual dining establishments. This was also the inspiration for our recent video feature, which you can watch above here…

Crafty

Crafty Burger leicester

Best burgers in Leicester? We think they probably are! Crafty has become an absolute diamond of the Leicester dining scene and they’re open from Thursday – Saturday for all your burger needs. Also home to the hugely popular St Martin’s Coffee Shop during the day, in the evening you can enjoy a relaxed experience with quality food and drink. They have worked hard to make the venue safe and 100% Covid compliant so why not book a table? Oh, and make sure you order those Wurst Fries. Find out more via the Crafty website.

Peter Pizzeria

Peter pizzeria

The perfect spot for a family lunch or as the start to your night out, Peter Pizzeria is in the fabulous Welford Place building and has one of the best interiors you’ll find in town. With the walls covered in movie posters and memorabilia it’s perfect for those Instagram snaps! It’s also perfect for quality pizza and drinks! Peter’s pizza is authentic, traditional, Neapolitan pizza – the original and best, made fresh on site each day for you. Find out more on the Peter Pizzeria website.

Bodega

bodega leicester

We will keep banging this drum until everyone in Leicester has heard it… Bodega is home to the best nachos in Leicester. The South American inspired restaurant is in the heart of St Martin’s Square and offers everything from burritos to tacos and xim xim to churros. They also have a full vegan menu. Grab some cocktails and tuck in. Find out more on the Bodega website.

The Tree

Over on High Street The Tree has recently launched a brand new Bao menu and it’s absolutely worth checking out. The perfect lunchtime stop or light dinner after work, bao is something that’s been lacking in Leicester for a long time… until now! Even better when paired with some of The Tree’s wonderful craft beers or cocktails. Find out more on The Tree website.

The Queen of Bradgate

The Queen of Bradgate on High Street has worked hard to ensure the venue is safe for you to enjoy, including revamping their upstairs bar space to allow more socially distanced table space. Their menu runs all through the day into the evening with a variety of small plates and larger meals. Spend the afternoon grazing the tapas menu or tuck into fish & chips. They also have excellent vegan options. Find out more on the Queen of Bradgate website.

We may have to go out to eat a little earlier, but with the range of wonderful places to visit on our doorstep we can manage that!
