You don’t need to travel far to have a beautiful break away. Mallory Meadows is located in Kirkby Mallory (LE9) and offers a wonderful slice of escapism on your doorstep.
Yes, that’s right, you don’t even need to leave Leicestershire. Although you’ll feel like you have. Mallory Meadows is a luxury glamping site with a choice of 6 beautiful cabins and roundhouses, complete with luxury facilities, hot tubs and an opportunity to unwind and unplug (but only if you want to, don’t worry they also have TVs and wifi in case you don’t!)
The cabins and roundhouses are situated on a 2.5 acre site, neighbouring the local countryside, and with the owners on site in the neighbouring farmhouse in case you have any needs whilst you’re there.
We enjoyed a wonderful two night stay in Squirrel, the cosy studio cabin which sleeps up to 2 adults and 2 children. Squirrel is also one of their pet friendly cabins so you can take your four legged friend along too. Believe us, they’ll love it! In fact they’ll even be treated to their own luxury dog treats when you arrive.
The cabins are fully equipped with everything you’ll need for a short break. The kitchen is complete with crockery and utensils should you wish to prepare your own meals, there is fast wifi, a TV with Freeview, and there’s even a draw of games if you fancy settling down to a game of Connect4.
The interior and luxury finish will soon make you forget that you’re in a wooden cabin. With a large comfortable bed, dining table and chairs plus bathroom with high end finish, you can settle in and enjoy the peace of your mini-break escape. The cabins also have an excellent heating system, as we found when visiting in freezing cold conditions, but walked in to such a warm and toasty welcome.
Outside the cabins you can enjoy coffee on the veranda with your own table and comfortable rattan armchair seating, or in the warmer months dine al fresco with the garden table and dining chairs in your enclosed patio area. Also in your enclosed patio space you’ll find your own private hot tub. Set behind a private space on the patio, you can take a dip and soak away your worries.
In terms of food and drink during your stay you can self cater with the excellent kitchen facilities, hire a BBQ to enjoy on your private patio, and you can even order wine and local beers from the Mallory Meadows team to be delivered to your cabin.
You’re also situated perfectly to visit a number of quality local pubs and restaurants. Here are a few top tips:
Mallories, Kirkby Mallory
Formerly known as Kirkby House, Mallories is the closest venue to Mallory Meadows and is located just up the road within the village of Kirkby Mallory. The hotel, bar and restaurant has undergone a full refurbishment and is newly opened as of February 2022. Join them for lunch and dinner throughout the week with options including steak and seafood, or stop by for Sunday lunch.
The Windmill, Brascote
Around a 10 minute drive from Mallory Meadows, The Windmill is a wonderful pub tucked away in the village of Brascote. If you’re staying during the week don’t miss their weekly pie night, with their indulgent homemade pies available in a variety of flavours. Sample some real ales and proper home cooked food in this traditional pub. Aside from pie night you can enjoy their global small plates menu and wonderful Sunday lunch. Oh, and don’t miss their homemade ice cream.
The Lancaster Arms, Desford
If you follow us on social media you’ll know how much we love The Lancaster Arms in Desford. Enjoy a drink on the Gin Terrace or step into their pub and restaurant for a meal you won’t forget. If you’re visiting Mallory Meadows over a weekend do not miss The Lancaster Arms’ Sunday roast, which comes on sharing boards with bottomless roast potatoes and meat cooked to your liking. It’s superb.
Maison Rose, Market Bosworth
Around a 10-15 minute drive from Mallory Meadows you can enjoy a trip to the beautiful village of Market Bosworth, home to Bosworth Battlefield and much more. Tucked away in Market Bosworth is Maison Rose, a wonderful tea rooms offering a beautiful brunch and lunch menu, or decadent sparkling afternoon tea.
As well as dining out, whilst you’re at Mallory Meadows you can enjoy plenty of fun activities. There are some lovely local countryside walks in the immediate area, or you are just a short drive from Tropical Birdland, Twycross Zoo, Bosworth Battlefield, and of course if the dates line-up you could take a short walk down the road to watch the racing at Mallory Park.
