Leicester City in the Community uses the power of Leicester City to transform the lives of thousands of people every year.

When it comes to health and wellbeing, many people face obstacles between them and accessing help and services. Leicester City in the Community works to break down those barriers, by offering safe and inclusive spaces in the familiar comfort of football based surroundings.

From weekly coffee mornings to combat loneliness and helping adults lose weight with their football weight loss league, to improving employability for youngsters, there’s a wide range of services offered.

Leicester City in the Community’s education teams work with primary and secondary schools to improve learning and education, improve employability, improve access to the local environment and offer increased opportunities to some of the most vulnerable groups.

In terms of health and wellbeing, the team deliver activities aimed at adults from 18 years, through to 50-plus and much older. Activities are varied and support adults to increase their levels of physical activity, to improve wellbeing and reduce obesity, to improve resilience and wellbeing, and to reduce levels of social isolation.

Some of the health and wellbeing activities on offer to all include Football Weight Loss League, Social Football, Walking Football, Active Women (female-only activity groups), Running Groups, Walk and Talk, Silver Foxes Coffee Mornings, Inclusive Leicester, Mental Health Football, and more. Football Development

Leicester City in the Community run Footballs Camps during the school and summer holidays. Delivered by FA-licensed and DBS-checked coaches, Football Camps are a great way for children to make new friends and learn new skills in a relaxed setting. Suitable for all abilities, children can expect a day consisting of skills development sessions, engaging challenges, matches and small-sided tournaments. Girls only camps are also available.

Powerchair Football

Leicester City in the Community also offers Powerchair Football – a unique sport that provides opportunities for people with a high level of impairment to access football. It is the only active team participation sport for people who use electric wheelchairs.

Due to the unique nature of Powerchair Football, it allows all ages, disabilities and genders to compete together. Powerchair Football enables people with additional needs to take part in regular activities and provides them with competition – something that the majority will never have, or rarely have experienced before due to their impairment. As a result, it builds key life skills such as teamwork and communication.
