It’s not all about food & drink when it comes to supporting independent. Here Andy Viner tells us Leicester Outdoor Pursuits Centre is such an important part of the city.
Set in 15 acres in the heart of Leicester, the LOPC is a non-profit charity providing adventurous activity experiences designed to stimulate, educate and motivate people from the age of 5 upwards.
Whatever their ability or background the LOPC provides outdoor fun for the community at affordable prices in a safe challenging environment. They believe that outdoor learning helps people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities to reflect and learn about themselves, each other and their environment.
The positive memories and lasting benefits impact academic achievement, personal and social development, care for the environment, career and professional development and most importantly, wellbeing and mental health.
Activities ranging from kayaking, paddle boarding and canoeing to archery, climbing and many many more, the LOPC provides a tech-free zone for today’s digital children (and adults) to simply have fun and experience outdoor learning.
The Centre is still open at the moment and taking bookings and taking all precautions following the government guidelines. Being outside and getting fresh air and exercise is critical at the moment and this gem in the county needs all the support to keep going now and post COVID-19.
