Join Cosmopolitan Arts as they celebrate Cosmopolitan Arts Festival this weekend. Get ready for a fantastic line-up as they take over Jubilee Square, the High Street and The Clocktower to celebrate Leicester’s cultural diversity, on Saturday 29th July 2-10pm.
Leicester City Centre, Saturday 29th July – Get ready to be dazzled as the Cosmopolitan Arts Festival returns to Leicester, taking over Jubilee Square, The Clocktower, High Street and Green Dragon Square to showcase the diverse cultural fabric of the city. This free arts extravaganza, taking place on Saturday 29th July, will immerse visitors in a fusion of music, dance, art, and cultural experiences, celebrating Leicester as one of the most culturally diverse cities in the country since 2011.
Since its inception, the Cosmopolitan Arts Festival has been a testament to Leicester’s cultural heritage and inclusive spirit. It serves as a platform for local and international artists to come together and express their talents, fostering a sense of unity, appreciation, and cross-cultural understanding.
Hosted by BBC Radio Leicester’s own Kevin Ncube, the festival will feature acclaimed artists set to mesmerise audiences with their talent. Among the performers are MELONYX a duo from Nottingham whose star is on the rise, with their songs featured on the TV Series ‘Bel Air’ and have recently received rave reviews from Sir Elton John! SHADEEMUS whose soul-stirring vocals are bound to leave a lasting impression. Get ready to be swept off your feet by the magnetic presence of Ffion Rebecca, whose unique blend of artistry transcends boundaries. The Paradimes are back by popular demand, having last played at the festival in 2015! Lloyd Luther will bring his poetic prowess, whilst GODFATHA’ promises to bring the funk! We also have an incredible dance area set up where you will be able to experience dances such as Capoeira, Bollywood, Carnival Troupes, traditional Chinese dance, Lion dancers and so much more!
The day reaches its crescendo with a captivating procession to Green Dragon Square. Through a combined arts approach, witness the astounding audio-visual treat of large-scale mapped projection, animation, live music, songs, spoken word, light, and dance.
The Cosmopolitan Arts Festival 2023 comes to life thanks to the support and funding from Leicester City Council and Arts Council England. Organised by Leicester’s Cosmopolitan Arts (recently recognized as a National Portfolio Organisation by Arts Council England), who have been a driving force behind captivating live music, dance, theatre, and art in Leicester since 2011.
