Have you got your summer activities planned? Leicester is packed full of wonderful things to do this summer, so you can enjoy everything you love about our city while making sure that you stay safe as lockdown restrictions continue to ease.

Many of this summer’s activities have been branded under the banner ‘Summer in the City’, with the council working with a wide range of organisations to put together awesome entertainment and events. From outdoor roller skating, a city-centre beach, urban sports including a skateboarding ramp and parkour to a fun café to feed your child’s creativity and a world-renowned exhibition highlighting the diversity of the natural world.

We’ve taken a look at some of the highlights for this week’s BID Spotlight feature.

Children and their families will be able to enjoy music and storytelling as the Head Cake Chef will offer you top tips in making your very own food creations using arts, crafts and your imaginations. Suitable for children 4 years plus and their grown ups.

Homewalk

Presented by Phoenix, Homewalk is a new way to enjoy getting out and about this summer. Step outside your door and let Homewalk take you on a walk with a difference this summer.

Via your smartphone, Homewalk will take you on a guided walk from your own front door to Phoenix at the heart of Leicester. Along the way, you’ll be invited to take photographs with your phone, helping you find hidden spots of beauty or see familiar streets and buildings in a new and different light. Once you reach the end of your walk at Phoenix, you can see the collection of photos you took along the route played back on a giant screen, where it will join all the other walks that families have taken during the summer. To take part just visit www.phoenix.org.uk/homewalk on your smartphone.
