INTERVIEW: AT ONE

Putting on some of the best parties in town, At One are back this summer with a series of events at secret city centre locations. Their goal is to bring the world’s biggest names in electronic dance to Leicester, mixed with local artists, unique locations and a great atmosphere. We caught up with them to find out more about it.

Tell us about At One’s events and what makes them unique?

At One strives to showcase the world’s biggest names in electronic dance music, alongside talented local artists, across some of the most iconic locations across the city; both known and unknown. The At One sound entwines the music flooding out of the progressive electronic dance scene with selections of all genres and eras. At the centre of At One is the focus of presenting an eclectic pick of the underground scene’s best music, both new and old, within the heart of Leicester.

Your next event is coming up on 7th August, what should people expect?

On the 7th of August, we welcome Irish house heavyweight, Kettama. The young star has rose to the top of the underground scene, with his releases being supported by the greats such as Mall Grab, The Blessed Madonna and Annie Mac. His latest release, Higher, has flooded nightclubs and festivals since their reopening and embodies the excitement we are all feeling to return to the dancefloor. Of course, in At One fashion, such a special headliner deserves a very special location to play. The event will take place at a secret outdoor location in the heart of the Leicester city centre, which will be revealed on the day.

You often do your events in secret locations, which have been some of your favourite spots to host one?

There is no better feeling than dancing to a wide array of fine picked sounds in a intimate location. One of our favourite memories will forever be inviting the emotive, lo-fi fuelled electronic group, Ross From Friends to a warehouse location for a special live performance. Hands raised, balloons flying, faces grinning; a unforgettable night.

Do you think keeping the location secret adds to the excitement of the event?

We ourselves are struggling to contain our excitement! We cannot wait to introduce our partygoers to this venue over the next week. An intimate open air space where guests can explore this new location as well as some of the most cutting edge dance music in the scene today.

Who are some of your favourite local artists?

It has been a pleasure to watch the Leicester scene grow over the last couple years and we love using At One to showcase such talent. Music platforms across the city such as Beastwang, RYVM and Lowertone are doing great work to highlight the freshest artists coming out of Leicester. City Fly label boss and Leicester dance legend, Jonna will be stepping up to the turntables on the 7th, alongside Virtual Ground label honchos, Seb Trillo & Diasam. Of course our residents, Real State and Make You Melt will be stepping up to shell the authentic At One sound. We will also be welcoming two fresh artists with their first performance at At One! Nat Law and Tom Warner are sure to rep the sound of the new emerging underground scene in the city.

How challenging has the last 18 months been as an events organiser?

Covid-19 has had a devastating impact on so many aspects of the hospitality industry and we feel for all those effected. However, the period has provided time for reflection and some serious planning for a number of very exciting projects coming in the next year. Now that we return to some form of normality, the city needs a place to experience exciting new music; a freedom we have been stripped of for far too long.

What else can people look forward to from At One over the coming months?

We have lots in the works and Leicester can expect to see more of the biggest names in dace music showcased across the entire city. Follow our socials on Instagram and Facebook to be the first to hear about upcoming events.

Where can people find out more and buy tickets?

Tickets and details are available on Skiddle.
