Leicester is going back to the sixties this month as REVIVE Festival hits the city across 3 weekends in June. To kick things off we’ve got the chance for one reader to win a brilliant prize package that just so happens to tie in with (Mod)Father’s Day too!

How do you fancy getting your hands on 2 tickets to see Quadrophenia Live at De Montfort Hall on Saturday 15 June as well as a bottle of Prosecco or Gallon of Beer at The Exchange AND a meal for two at Queen Victoria Arts Club? Give it to your Dad for Father’s Day or keep it for yourself? Well that’s up to you! You can enter via the form below or on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram and the winner will be announced on Friday morning.

REVIVE Festival aims to bring the past to life. The project is very much a celebration of sub-cultures, bringing the sights and sounds of bygone eras back to the streets of the city, and for 2019 the focus is firmly on Mod culture.

As REVIVE Festival kicks off this weekend, The Goldhawks will be performing a special show at De Montfort Hall on Saturday night, with the 8 piece band delivering a stunning live performance set to the film. Released over 40 years ago in October 1973, The Who’s second rock opera was Pete Townshend’s homage to a pivotal moment in British youth culture. The album tells the story of Jimmy, a Mod, and it served as an ode to teenage angst and counterculture rebellion. Backed with exciting, and sometimes heart-wrenching, large-screen projection of archival footage, the emotions, tension and raw power that the music demands is delivered masterfully by the fabulous, charismatic band, The Goldhawks, with amazing replication of The Who’s sound.

The Exchange will also be getting into the Mod spirit all through the weekend. On Friday enjoy Mod, Ska & Northern Soul Vinyl DJs from 9pm – 1am, then on Saturday enjoy afternoon acoustic sounds of the 60s before the evening comes alive with Uptight 60s DJ David Snape. It doesn’t stop on Sunday either when there’ll be Mod jazz in the basement through the evening. All weekend they’ll also have a Framework and Round Corner Brewery takeover as well as a converted LandRover Defender selling ales and Mod cocktails. Best of all, entry is free all weekend!

Also this weekend don’t miss Sixties fashion talks at LCB Depot, New Walk Museum Mods exhibition tours, Scooterama vintage scooter exhibition on New Market Square, Vintage retro independent market on New Market Square, Soul Sunday at Grays and loads more. Visit the Revive Festival website for full listings.
