Just how would Ted Lasso get on managing Leicester City?

Leicester City fan, Tom Hendryk, played goalkeeper Tom O’Brien in the series, and we caught up with him to find out more about his Leicester City memories and life in Ted Lasso.

What is your first memory as a Leicester City fan?

Steve Walsh’s testimonial. Walsh was on the back of the first Leicester shirt I ever owned. Legend.

After the disappointment of last season, how excited are you for the new path the club is on?

Last season was unbelievably difficult to digest for many reasons but I think I am over the question “How are we back in the Championship?” and now I am just so excited for the future. I can’t wait to see how far Enzo ball can take us!

Who is your all time favourite player?

It will be an injustice if in the next 10 years there is not a Jamie Vardy statue holding a can of Red Bull with a plaque underneath saying “chat shit get banged”. Vardy is Leicester City.

What was your highlight of being in Ted Lasso?

Any time I was in the locker room with the other lads. We were a real team and it was a really special environment to be a part of.

That, and smashing the boys with pillows in the hotel pillow fight scene. Found feathers in places for days.

How do you think Ted would have got on as Leicester City manager?

We would have won our second Premier League trophy and reached the Champions League Final. We would have lost in the final but he would have given us all a life lesson to make us feel better about ourselves.

Do you manage to get to many games?

I am a season ticket holder and have been since I was young. Things are a bit busier now, so my mum goes when I can’t get to a game. She is way more popular than I am in the terraces.

What else do you have coming up work wise?

I have a few short films and a docuseries in the pipeline. More will definitely be revealed soon and I just got married so that took a ridiculous amount of my time and energy!

What is it about Leicester City that makes it such a special club?

It’s my boyhood club so it’s ingrained into my DNA. It’s not something you can choose really. But Leicester are such a bonkers club to support it is always interesting! – I wouldn’t have it any other way.

What is your points prediction for this season?

120!

Straight back up straight back up Leicester City!!!
