There’s not long to wait now as Indian eatery, tamatanga, is set to open in Leicester on Monday 1 July. Loved for their hearty, home-style Indian food, Leicester will be their third UK site and they’ll be opening in Shires Lane next door to Treetop Adventure Golf.
So, what can we expect from tamatanga? From students to families, everyone is welcome. They also offer exceptional value right the way through their menu, from their wonderful home cooked street style dishes, to cocktails, craft beers and lassis. Their concept is fuss free and relaxed all day eating with a laid back and fun vibe, plus they have a briliant day time deal available until 6pm Monday to Thursday and daily two for one cocktails.
Cooking with their heart and soul, the kitchen team – who are all of Indian origin – use fresh, wholesome ingredients to create food that is real and homely. Bursting with flavour but light and easy to eat, the menu is varied and unique. From hearty biryanis and classic curries to more unusual offerings, tamatanga is renowned for its legendary thalis, healthy clay oven plates, warming wraps and seriously good salads.
Do you have little ones? They’re welcome wholeheartedly at tamatanga with baby changing facilities, highchairs, balloons, crayons and colouring all forming part of the tama tots and troublemakers experience, alongside a fantastic kids’ menu which has something for even the fussiest of eaters.
One of our favourite aspects of tamatanga is their bar area! If you’re starting a night out or not feeling too hungry then grab a seat in the bar area and enjoy tasty cocktails and craft beers, or go for smaller bites from the lighter bar menu. At tamatanga the drinks are never overlooked and customers can enjoy a vast array of craft gins, craft beers and creative cocktails with exotic garnishes alongside coolers, wines, lassis and soft drinks.
Given how popular the restaurants have proven to be in Nottingham and Birmingham it looks set to be a brilliant new addition to the city centre, with a light hearted and playful feel of the streets of India, and options to suit every pocket.
