It’s summer and it seems like everyone is on a health kick. It’s hard though, isn’t it, to resist the things you love like cake?
I know we here at Cool As Leicester struggle with it!
That’s why we were so chuffed when we came across local company NewTrition, who have “smart food for busy people” as their tag line and we love anything that is tasty and healthy at the same time!
NewTrition is all about eating foods that give something back to the body. The company was developed through a very personal lifestyle change and weightloss journey for Sunita, the owner, and now she wants to share the products with others who struggle to find low-carb, healthy and above all tasty food when they are out and about.
We couldn’t wait to try what they had on offer and delved straight into the cake, or “Ugly Muffins” as they brand them. There are 2 flavours of muffins available – banana & chocolate chip and spiced carrot. And here’s the best bit, all of the cakes have no added margarine, butter or oil, they’re high in fibre, low GI and have no added refined sugar. Too good to be true, right? It gets better… They’re super tasty too!
The spiced carrot muffins were our favourite. You really feel like you’re enjoying a cake but without any of the guilt behind it. Perfect for an afternoon snack, or even for breakfast on the go! They’re not marketed as “diet” foods, but as a lifestyle choice, which seems the perfect way to describe it.
The company also make Grummy Granola, which we recommend you check out too! Absolutely packed full of wholegrain goodness, you won’t find a better breakfast item out there.
Both items are absolutely perfect if you’re currently on a health & fitness plan.
We’ve saved the best bit until last though… You can order these great products online, but even better, if you’re out and about you can pick one up from one of your favourite coffee shops! Yes Ugly Muffins are now stocked in the following places – Deli Flavour on Allandale Road, Salvador Deli on Queens Road and Ragdale Hall.
