When Harry Winks joined Leicester City at the start of the season, reaction was mixed. Was he good enough? Were we looking backwards? Did he have a point to prove? Or, was it a genius signing?

Looking back, questioning a former England international and Champions League finalist seems bizarre. And his performances have more than proved any doubters wrong. Perhaps he did have a point to prove in moving back to English football, but I’m certainly glad he’s proving it at Leicester City.

With an average pass completion rate of over 94%, he has been the absolute cornerstone of the Leicester City team so far this season. With his exceptional skills and versatility, just what is it that gives him the Winks Factor?

  1. Consistent Performances
Harry Winks has proved to be a force to be reckoned with in the heart of Leicester’s midfield. His performances have been consistently outstanding throughout the season, showcasing his technical abilities, vision, and work rate. Winks’ passing accuracy and control of the game have been crucial in dictating the team’s tempo.
  2. Playmaking Abilities
One of Winks’ standout attributes is his playmaking abilities. His precise passes and ability to help create scoring opportunities have been instrumental in our attacking prowess. Winks consistently displays a remarkable sense of composure and decision-making, which has has a huge impact on the team’s continued winning performances, even when coming back from losing positions.
  3. Defensive Contribution
In addition to his contribution and a deep lying playmaker, Harry Winks is an important factor in the team’s defensive setup as well. His tackling ability, interceptions, and positional awareness have helped Leicester City maintain a solid defensive shape, with only 7 goals conceded in 13 games so far. His relentless work rate and tracking back have brought a sense of stability to the team..
  4. Versatility
Winks has showcased his versatility by being equally effective in multiple midfield positions. Whether operating as a central midfielder, deep-lying playmaker, or even in an advanced role, he can adapt to fit the team, proving his worth across the midfield and giving Enzo some tactical flexibility.
  5. Leadership Qualities
Throughout the season, Harry Winks has displayed remarkable leadership qualities on and off the pitch. Despite being a newcomer, he has quickly established himself as a key figure within the Leicester City squad. Leading by example, demonstrating professionalism and determination in every match, inspiring his teammates to perform at their best. His media face has also been very well received by fans, having stated in interviews that this is the most he’s enjoyed his football in years and speaking out in huge praise of Enzo Maresca as a manager.

Whilst it’s early days, for many City fans Winks would already be their player of the season. He’s been active in every game, consistently solid and brings such a positive energy on the pitch. His performances are sure to set a few club’s twitching in the Premier League and there’s already a little concern about how long we can keep hold of him. If he had a point to prove he’s doing it brilliantly, and here’s hoping we get to enjoy him for long into the future.
