We went along to check out Champneys Springs and now have a spa day to give away to one lucky winner!
If you’re after luxury then look no further as Champneys provides the ultimate in relaxation. As soon as we arrived over the enchanting bridge at the entrance we felt instantly relaxed and at ease. Once we’d signed in and been given our robes we had a quick tour and then to our room for the day where we dropped off our bags. There’s free tea and coffee on arrival in the lounge area where you won’t feel out of place in our robe and slippers.
You can’t knock the facilities in the state of the art gym. There are even individual TV screens on the cardio equipment and believe me a workout goes far quicker when you’re doing it whilst watching Come Dine With Me. So we went and sweated off some of our stress in the morning before heading over to enjoy the inclusive buffet lunch.
The best thing about the buffet lunch is that there’s no need to feel guilty when indulging yourself as the offering is so healthy. With fish, grilled meat, salads, vegetables and more you can’t help but want to go back for seconds. There was even a wrap station offering freshly cooked wraps with chicken and your choice of other additional fillings. Believe me, if you walk away from lunch hungry then you have nobody to blame but yourself! With more complimentary tea and coffee available after lunch we soon felt sufficiently ready for the afternoon ahead.
You’ll receive your treatment timetable on arrival and we had a thalassotherapy pool session and neck and shoulder massage to look forward to. Unsure of what to expect from the thalassotherapy pool, we headed in and were soon guided around the various water jets as you receive what is the equivalent to a full body massage under water. A unique experience and definitely recommended! Not all spas offer this treatment so it’s certainly worth trying out.
The pool area is clean and welcoming with a jacuzzi situated alongside and sauna/steam rooms with the changing rooms. It’s quite easy to spend a lot of time in here as you do lengths in the pool or simply relax and soak up the day in the jacuzzi.
As we headed into our neck and shoulder massages we’d already enjoyed the most part of the day but this was the ideal end to it. The masseuse takes into account any particular issues you may have and is very careful to ensure you’re at ease. I soon realised just how tense we must have been before due to the knots in my back! Afterwards we were given a form with details of what oils had been used and if you wish to you can purchase these from the downstairs shops before you leave.
Back to our lovely room to get changed and collect our things before check out, we both remarked how we couldn’t wait to come back!
Springs is located in Swadlincote near to Ashby de la Zouch, within very easy reach of Leicester. For both men and women the facilities are excellent and with the sumptuous surroundings and mouth watering lunch you’ll want to come back again and again!
