Coast to Coast in Highcross have launched a brand new menu so we went along to check it out. Not only that but we’ve got a £50 voucher for you to along and try it too! Coast to Coast has been one of our favourite additions to Highcross since it opened last summer. With American favourites, big steaks, tasty pizzas and everything in between, it’s the perfect setting for a family or group lunch or dinner. We went along to try out the new menu so that we can give you some tasty recommendation in case you’re the lucky winner of our £50 voucher! First things first, you mustn’t go without trying the Sea Salt Pretzels to start. We shared a portion of these between 2, along with the Blue Cheese Chicken Tenders to start and it was great start size to share. The pretzels are oven baked dough with sea salt on top and come with garlic and cheese (if requested). If you’re not fighting over the last one at the end then you’re a very good friend. In fact, it’s probably easier to order a portion just to yourself!

The chicken tenders are breadcrumbed and come with a buffalo dressing, sprinkled with blue cheese and served with a blue cheese dip. Melt in your mouth and they’ll leave you wishing that you had a main course size!

Onto mains and I opted to try something of the new menu and went for the Tuna Steak Salad, which came highly recommended by the manager. The salad comes with green beans and sun blush tomatoes and I decided to ask if it would be possible to change the croutons for a little goats cheese. No problem at all. The manager made the right decision in his recommendation, perfect for a summer’s evening. If you happen to be a fan of goats cheese, that addition went really well! Just one note, if you like your tuna rare then be sure to specify that when ordering!

My dining partner decided to stay a little more traditional as he opted for the full rack of St Louis style ribs. He’d made the fatal error of ordering a banana and pecan milkshake when we arrived and now suddenly this large rack of ribs was looking a little daunting. With sides of fries and coleslaw this is a hefty meal, however you’ll definitely be wanting to do your best to make your way through it. The ribs were cooked perfectly, with the meat flavoursome and tender. This is definitely one to order if you’re feeling particularly hungry! You certainly won’t be afterwards!

Completely stuffed from the meal we couldn’t quite fit in dessert. We opted just to go for coffee, which was presented in a very quirky way with the milk in a little milk bottle! A great end to a lovely meal.

SERVICE

We’d heard rumours that service could be slow at Coast to Coast but we were pleasantly surprised at how speedy it was. Just enough of a rest between starter and main course and no waiting around. Very pleasant staff all round! There’s so much more to offer on the menu at Coast to Coast, including an impressive cocktail menu and a delicious looking dessert menu (the carrot cake looked to die for). There’s even special lunch and breakfast menus too. The prices might not be the cheapest, but for the quality and the size of the portions we certainly wouldn’t grumble! Frankie & Benny’s opening opposite has stirred up some real competition so it’s nice to see that Coast to Coast have stayed at the top of their game!
