When the sun comes out the first thing on most people’s minds is “where’s the nearest beer garden?” In Leicester we’re lucky to have some pretty great ones, but our current fave for basking in the sunshine has to be the newly refurbished Rutland and Derby on Millstone Lane.
The Rutland and Derby underwent a refurbishment last year and the results have been worth waiting for. Not only are your pub favourite still there but they’ve incorporated Leicester’s first ever pub deli into the setup. The deli includes the finest meats, cheeses, breads and dips from around the world, which can be enjoyed eaten in or taken away.
The bar is also extremely well stocked and even includes a range of continental ales, beers and ciders (they even serve in 1/3 pints for tasting if you ask nicely). If that’s not your bag then you’re just as welcome to order a Peroni or a bottle of wine!
They’ve got a roof-top terrace that is just perfect for relaxing outside in the sunshine and rumour has it that if you go in for lunch whilst the sun is shining they’ll give you 10% off your order!
They’re open from 11am – 11pm Monday to Thursday and until late on Friday & Saturday!
