The Michelin Guide and Michelin Eating out in Pubs Guide 2018 have been released and in them lies details on the very best UK establishments to enjoy a fine dining experience. Lucky for us here in Leicestershire, one of the newly recommended pubs featuring in both Michelin guides this year is the White Swan in Shawell in our very county.

The guide describes it as a “charming country pub with quality food and an enticingly unusual interior” and with Head Chef Chris Leaper having extensive experience in Michelin starred restaurants, it’s no surprise that they impressed enough to make it into 2018’s Guides.

The Michelin Guides are renowned for handpicking exceptional establishments with something new or unique to offer the hospitality industry. This year, 470 pubs in the UK and Ireland have been featured; the White Swan is 1 of only 27 new entries.

Owners of the White Swan, Rory McClean and Samantha Laye commented, “We’re delighted to have our name in two such prominent and high-status guides. We’ve worked exceptionally hard over the past five years to bring the White Swan to life in our own way after taking it over from its previous owners.”

What an honour to have our name in the Michelin Guides 2018 – it’s a great feeling to know how appreciated we are as a local pub.

The White Swan offers an extensive pub food menu with a contemporary twist, created with locally sourced seasonal ingredients. Their wine list is the envy of any bar with a large range of Champagnes, rosé, sparkling, red, and white wines, dessert liquors, port and sherry; pioneered by the owners’ passion for and expertise in the wine industry.

You only need to take a look online at their mouth watering menu to see why they’ve created such an impact. Fillet steak tartare with quail egg, game pie and stuffed guinea fowl, just a few of the stand out items.

Michelin’s selection process is incredibly thorough and helps to offer unique expertise to diners and tourists across the world, making the White Swan’s feature even more impressive and will help to put the village of Shawell on the global hospitality map.

We can’t wait to try it out!
