Now then, with the madness of St Patrick’s Day still evident in our hangovers it’s time to look forward to the weekend. So here are the top tips for this coming weekly break in your working lives!
First of all tonight you can catch Tom Hingley from Inspiral Carpets playing at Firebug. Support comes from The Falling Leaves and The Eaves, doors 8pm, tickets are £8 (including club night until 3am).
Fancy something a little different? Well The Leicester Vintage Fair is back in town on Saturday! It’s only £1 to get in and you can expect over 50 stalls of vintage clothing, accessories, homewares, jewellery, and maybe even some cupcakes! Rumour has it there’s even going to be a vintage hair salon. It’s all taking place in Leicester Cathedral and surrounding areas and you can find a bit more info on it here.
Of course the Mighty Foxes are at home tomorrow against Portsmouth. With the play-offs still in sight every game is huge so don’t miss out on seeing them in action on Saturday. There is a family ticket package available for only £50 (inc tickets, parking, programme and even food, more info here) or normal tickets are still available from £21.
Now on to Saturday night… Highlight Leicester are keeping in the Comic Relief spirit. There’ll be live comedy throughout the evening from various acts, as well as a raffle of top prizes. Tickets are limited but can be purchased from 0116 251 5816.
If you’re after music on Saturday night then our top tip is The Stereosonics at Lock 42. These guys are the UK’s leading tribute act to the Welsh wonders and will make the perfect start to a lads night out. Tickets are £6 and available on the door.
Sunday, the forgotten day! There’s still time to make the most of the weekend after you’ve finished off your carvery dinner! Our recommendation is to head down to The Interlude (between Bede Park and DMU) for their Two Phat Ladies bingo night. “Bingo? Seriously?” You’re thinking? Well don’t judge too soon. Tickets are only £5 and that will get you 3 games and a free drink! What’s more on top of the bingo there’ll be a full line-up of comedy acts and all proceeds from the night will be donated to First Step, a charity offering support to male victims of sexual abuse. Hang on, we forgot the prizes! Get a win on the bingo and you could walk away with a brand new BMX, tickets to see Scouting For Girls at O2 Academy or a £50 bar tab! Sounds a good night to us!
So that’s where we’ll be, have fun wherever you end up!
