This week (12-18 August) marks the official Afternoon Tea Week and we’ve teamed up with Belvoir Castle, the alleged birthplace of the much-loved British tradition, to give away Duchess’ Afternoon Tea for Two for one lucky Cool As winner and guest to indulge at the Leicestershire estate.
‘Afternoon Tea’ is alleged to have been invented by Anna Russell, Duchess of Bedford, during a visit to see the 5th Duchess of Rutland in the mid-1840s. Today visitors can choose from a quintessentially English experience at the Regency castle, or enjoy the new menu at The Balloon Bar in the Engine Yard at Belvoir.
One lucky Cool As Leicester prize winner will get to experience the Duchess’ Afternoon Tea for Two in the Castle Tea Room. Indulge on a selection of made-to-order sandwiches, homemade mini cakes, scones with jam and cream, tea or coffee and a chilled glass of prosecco.
Afternoon Tea at Belvoir Castle starts from £48 for two people and Duchess’ Afternoon Tea for Two is priced at £58. The ticket also includes access to the Castle’s award-nominated gardens. Guests can also upgrade their ticket to see the Staterooms in the Castle.
If you’re visiting this August you can also enjoy a range of event at the Castle, which is now open six days a week. Events include an evening of outdoor theatre with an incredible performance of the Jane Austen classic, Pride & Prejudice, performed by Chapterhouse Theatre Company (20 Aug), singalong to Queen hits with an energetic performance from an authentic tribute band (22 Aug), and celebrate the one-year anniversary of the multi-million-pound artisan shopping village, The Engine Yard (31 Aug).
More information on Afternoon Tea at Belvoir Castle can be found via the Belvoir Castle website.
