Exciting times are ahead for the team behind Wigston Deli – Not Just A Corner Shop! Following the success of their Wigston venue they’re expanding to deli number 2 as Swithland Deli – NJACS 2 is set to open this month.

Operators, Pratik and Bee, will be opening the new deli in the former Odd John’s Deli site alongside The Griffin Inn. The new site is set to open on Thursday 10 February, with a day of celebration and sampling on offer to visitors.

The tagline “Not just a corner shop” has become synonymous with operators, Pratik and Bee, due to how they’ve grown and developed the shop since picking up the day to day running from Pratik’s father. They’ve now turned the shop into a destination deli, offering the finest local artisan products available, and this same ethos will be used to drive the launch of Swithland Deli. Many of those producers who have proved so popular with customers will now be available across both sites. From fresh sausage rolls to the finest handmade local chocolates, Swithland Deli will offer one of the widest ranges of local products available in Leicestershire.

On the opening day, Thursday 10 February, visitors will be able to enjoy gin sampling from Burleighs Gin (from 12pm – 4pm), as well as a range of opening day offers from local producers including Butterwick Macarons, Hairy Coconut Deli, Hambleton Bakery and more. As an extra special treat there will also be Pay As Your Feel Pizza available (5pm – 8pm) as they fire up the stone baked pizza oven for some freshly made doughs.

Operator, Pratik, commented, “We can’t wait to open our second site in Swithland. Expanding the deli has been something we’ve been keen to do for a long time but we have been waiting for the perfect site to become available. Swithland is a beautiful part of Leicestershire and it offers a very different setting to our shop in Wigston. We’ll be continuing in our goal of championing the best Leicestershire producers, but now we’re able to give them double the exposure and hopefully double the customers.

“For our existing customers, don’t worry, Wigston Deli will continue full steam ahead as we open the new site, but we’re excited to meet our new customers in North Leicestershire too. Sitting alongside The Griffin Inn makes this a real destination to visit with family and friends, to enjoy a drink, a meal, and pick up some local treats. We can’t wait.

“As with Wigston Deli, Bee and I will work under the guidance of my dad, who has allowed us to pick up the day to day running of the business. Without him believing in our vision none of this would have been possible”

Swithland Deli will be open Wednesday – Sunday from 9am – 4pm, with late night shopping (and pizza nights) until 8pm on Thursdays.
