Riskee and The Ridicule formed in Kent, The Garden Of England, when frontman Scott Picking, aka Riskee, happened upon his musical counterpart in Jimbo Aglony on lead guitar. The rhythm section soon arrived with David Thomas (Bass) and Matt Verrell (Drums), plus recently adding Jordan Mann on guitars and backing vocals and Riskee and The Ridicule became a powerhouse of a genre-mixing-pot. PREVIEW: Full line-up announced for Sir Tom Jones at Leicester County Cricket Club

tom jones leicester

The legendary Sir Tom Jones will be performing his live show at Leicestershire County Cricket Club on Saturday 15 July, with full details of the line-up that will join him now announced. On the night he will be joined by The Shires, Ward Thomas, Germein Sisters, Bethzienna and Chris Simmons as part of his Ages & Stages Tour.

Being the UK’s most successful country music export, The Shires, with four top 10 albums and thousands of tickets sold worldwide, Ben Earle and Crissie Rhodes are delighted to join Tom Jones on his Ages and Stages tour.

The duo has had some incredible achievements supporting Little Big Town, The Corrs, and Carrie Underwood (during her Cry Pretty UK tour), playing C2C Festival, a sold-out headline tour and the release of their spectacular debut album, ’Brave’, which became the first-ever top 10 album by a UK country music act. Having also sold out the Royal Albert Hall as one of their biggest achievements with three consecutive UK Top 3 albums, last year saw the release of album number five for Earle and Rhodes with ’10 Year Plan’.

Being the first and only UK country act to achieve a number one album, Ward Thomas, Hampshire twins, Catherine and Lizzy last month released their fifth album, ‘Music In The Madness’. Reaching number one for a fourth time in the UK country charts, the album consists of 12 new songs with ‘Music In The Madness’, ‘Loved By You’ and ‘Love Does’ being the fans favourites. The album also consists of Razorlight’s famous hit song ‘America’ which has been drenched in the twins’ trademark harmonies. Having performed at Glastonbury last year Ward Thomas can’t wait to join the line up at Leicester Cricket this summer with Tom Jones, “We have so much new music we can’t wait to share,” says Catherine.

Germein join the line-up, as their popularity across the globe grows. Having grown up jamming together on their family farm in South Australia, sisters, Georgia (guitar, keys), Ella (bass, electric cello), and Clara Germein (drums) have since been turning heads with their unique brand of indie pop songs and signature harmonies. Whether it’s opening for Phil Collins, touring UK stadiums with Little Mix & Jess Glynne, or playing to a sold-out hometown crowd in Adelaide; Germein’s energetic and charismatic live shows have been described as nothing short of mesmerising.

Having been mentored by Sir Tom Jones in 2019, Bethzienna performed on ITV hit show The Voice, where she finished in third place. The independent native Welsh artist will be bringing jazz origins dripped in country-soul, blues rock with her this summer. Bethzienna work has led to her role with ’Never Such Innocence’ – a charity mentoring the younger generation, teaching them about conflict and the legacy of World War One via song, which lead to a personal thank you message from the late Queen.

Finally, having comparisons to an ostensibly motley crew of musicians such as Brett Anderson, Neil Finn and Paul McCartney, Chris Simmons is bound to stop listeners in their tracks this summer. Having toured with Sir Tom Jones and Passenger in 2021, Simmons has also played at a list of British festivals including Glastonbury and the Isle of Wight Festival. He also opened for Australia’s Matt Corby and flown the English and Trans-Atlantic support flag for the likes of Kate Nash and Suzanne Vega his achievements just never stop.

Liz Doogan-Hobbs MBE, CEO of Grandslam Live Ltd said, “We are delighted to confirm that we will be bringing an amazing line-up to Leicester County Cricket Club this summer. Sir Tom is an icon, and we know fans will enjoy what promises to be one of the most enjoyable and memorable shows they’ll ever see!”.
