INTERVIEW – Harri Georgio
With a gig at O2 Academy under his belt last week and a new video just released, we caught up with Harri Georgio to chat about music, HQ and future plans.
How would you describe your sound to anyone who hasn’t heard you before?
A mixture of Indie Pop & Reggae with a UK flavour.
Tell us about your new single. What’s it about? Who’s it for?
Dreaming is about being in your own bubble while the world passes by around you, it could relate to being lost in your own thoughts whilst waiting for a train or daydreaming at work, so hopefully most people can relate one way or another.
Who came up with the video ideas?
To be honest the video was totally improvised. I had a video shoot for another track cancelled and still wanted to use the time as it was the hottest day of the year, so I didn’t want to waste the opportunity. HQ videographers, Conrad Smart, Hubert Kotliki & myself went out with a camera and a drone, we made it up as we went along. Turned out to be one of my favourite videos so far, we just caught a vibe!
Which 3 acts would be in your for fans of section?
I always find this question hard, but if you were to look at my own Spotify right now, Sticky Fingers, The Skints & Machine Gun Kelly would be up there.
Tell us about working with HQ
HQ is a recording studio, record label, CIC and collective (HQ Familia) based in Leicester. I can honestly say like my family now. Yasin took me on fresh out of uni when I was pretty lost, fast forward a few years, I’m now a director as well as being under artist management with HQ Familia.
How important is HQ to the local scene?
I think in a smaller city like Leicester, some form of infrastructure for the local music scene is really important. It gives the younger up and coming artists a network, something to work towards, and helps us collectively make more noise as a city.
What has been your career highlight so far?
I played the main room at the O2 Academy last week with my band The Well-Behaved Young Men, it was a packed out show and that was a milestone for sure.
What’s coming up next year?
More music, more visuals, more gigs, maybe some cheeky festival slots. Everything bigger and better.
Where can people watch the video and found out more?
The Dreaming video is out now on YouTube and you can find me @HarriGeorgio on all socials.
Our weekly playlist is a selection of the best acts coming to Leicester over the coming weeks. Check them out and book some tickets.
Have a listen and get in touch to tell us which tracks you’re loving.
