Former Eastenders star and all round nice guy, Shane Richie, is starring in the lead role of Archie Rice in The Entertainer, which opens at Curve this month before embarking on a UK tour. We caught up with him to find out more about the role and what people can expect.
As for the story, well it’s 1982 and Archie Rice is a washed-up entertainer playing a summer season. As his soldier son sails with the Task Force to liberate the Falklands, his daughter Jean returns from campaigning against the war, and Archie’s professional and personal lives collide with devastating consequences.
“This role gives me the opportunity to come out and be loathed by the audience… If people are expecting to see Alfie Moon they’re in for a shock!”

The Entertainer runs at Curve from 27 August – Saturday 31 August. Tickets are available from the Curve website.
