There’s nothing quite like a country spa break to give you a little respite from day to day life. Mallory Court is located just an hour away on the edge of beautiful Leamington Spa and offers a perfect mix of relaxation and fine dining.

Leamington Spa is one of those lovely towns that managed to mix excellent shopping (they have an Oliver Bonas, so they won me over straight away) along with wonderful independent cafes, bars and restaurants. For a day out or short break it’s an ideal option and even better, it’s only a hour away.

Mallory Court is situated on the edge of the town, part way between Leamington Spa and Warwick, meaning you’re just a short 10 minute drive from either drinks and shopping, or a stroll around Warwick Castle in the other direction. For those keen to enjoy the spa facilities, you won’t be disappointed. The Elan Spa is located just across the gardens from the main hotel building and has wonderful, modern facilities. The gym is filled with top of the range equipment, with a wonderful pool area and 5* changing room facilities. Plus, if you’re lucky with the weather, you can take some time to enjoy the outdoor jacuzzi.

The spa also houses its own bedrooms, which means you can be in the pool or gym in just a couple of minutes from your room. Or, if you prefer to sip on a glass of Pinot whilst relaxing then the spa cafe has you covered for that too!

The hotel is split between the 2 buildings, within Mallory Court itself and within the spa, all that’s between them is the beautiful garden area, so wherever you’re based you won’t be missing out.

Over in Mallory Court the setting and ambience are special from the moment you walk in. With the real fire roaring on cold evenings and views over the gardens when it’s clear, whatever the season you’ll be guaranteed a memorable visit. The service is impeccable with table service for all drinks in the lounge area.

Mallory Court held a Michelin star for a number of years and their new chef has his sights firmly set on winning it back. The AA Rosette restaurant is one of the finest in the area and one of the best dining experiences we’ve enjoyed in quite some time. Greeted with a glass of champagne and canapés, each diner is treated to a culinary journey that involves much of the charm of Mallory Court directly in the menu, from the locally sourced meat to the herbs grown right here in the hotel’s garden space.

Head Chef Paul Evans has overseen the transformation of the restaurant and the results were clear to see. From the chalk steamed trout with exquisitely flavoured oyster mayonnaise to the aged beef sirloin, the produce is of the finest quality with extreme care taken in preparation and attention to detail in presentation.  The dessert of rhubarb, ginger custard and meringue was a particular highlight, with the flavours perfectly balanced and a wonderful end to the meal.

Priced from £55 for 2 courses and £65 for 3 courses, it’s firmly in special occasion territory, however the additional details, pre-dinner champagne and canapés and fabulous setting make it a wonderful (and likely) contender for a future Michelin star.

Whether you’re based in the main hotel or one of the spa bedrooms, you’ll be guaranteed a good night’s sleep with a large sumptuous bed to fall into as well as a spacious and wonderfully designed bathroom, both of which make this a real stay to remember. (Let’s also give a little nod to the excellent biscuits offered on arrival in the room… it’s the little touches that count!) When you wake up in the morning you’ll be offered the choice of taking your breakfast either in the spa dining area or in the main hotel, both offering a menu of freshly prepared hot breakfast options and cold buffet.
