With the winters cold setting in and decorations being sprinkled in shop windows, Leicester prepares for the storm of Christmas shoppers. Discounts and offers are all the rage in the city centre as high-street shops bid to get your attention, so pull out your wallets and sip your gingerbread latte whilst you decide which shops have the best offers on the table.
An obvious and popular place to visit this December is the Highcross. Riddled with clothing, shoes, accessory and trinket shops, every December brings on a new wave of fabulous discounts.
Some of the obvious places to hit are the main clothing stores, which offer up to 50% discount on all their items.
New Look – The New Look store can be found on the second floor of the Highcross, near to the entrance of John Lewis and is offering a whopping discount of up to 50% on all their items; hurry!
Topshop – Topshop often whips out flash sales, and is currently offering one with up to 20% on selected clothing items online and in store.
River Island – River Island joins the party with up to 40% off on their items, including 25% off men’s outerwear and winter boots online. (Great for shopping for your other half!)
Miss Selfridge – Miss Selfridge wraps up its deals with up to 30% on selected clothing and shoes.
Open Stores – Even though it’s new to the Highcross, Open Stores keeps up with the gang by shaving 20% off of all its knitwear clothing in store.
John Lewis – With 20% off on a variety of products such as Christmas trees, tableware, Ted Baker products and handbags, you’re sure to find something for everyone at John Lewis this Christmas!
As well as visiting the main high-street shops, we often forget about the other discounts floating around in other shops, cafés and trinket shops.
Set – Known as the coolest vintage gift shop of the city, Set opts for a more unique approach at Christmas and pulls out its ‘Advent Giveaway Event’. If you like designer watches, jewelry and quirky gifts then head over and like their Facebook page to be in the chances of winning a cool product on the days leading up to Christmas. Starting from the 1st of December to the 25th, a random person will be picked from the pile to be gifted a unique gift from Set. This is definitely worth two minutes of your time!
Fenwicks – Many people forget there’s a Fenwicks in Leicester, as it’s a little out of the way of the city centre on Belvoir Street, however it’s a department store that’s definitely worth a visit! On the weeks coming up to Christmas they hold a two-night event called a ‘Mercury Night’. Opening from 5.30 to 9.30 on a Thursday they offer 20% off to customers on all of their products. All you need to do is get a coupon from the Leicester Mercury paper and trade it in at the Fenwick store for an invitation! The last one is Thursday the 4th December, so grab an invitation whilst you can!
