St Martin’s Square is set to welcome a new bar this month as Tønne Bar prepares to open their doors next weekend.

The craft led bar will take over the space previously occupied by 45 St Martin’s and will focus on a craft beers and cocktails in a relaxed and welcoming environment. With 10 taps across the back wall, they will have 7 different craft beers and lagers on tap at all times, as well as 3 draft cocktails. Yep, cocktails from a tap. Expect an Old Fashioned and good old G & T as well as a few surprises.

Taking their name from the Norwegian word for barrel, they’ll be keeping some Nordic roots in place by serving Lervig beer, among others. Hailing from Stavanger, Norway, Lervig are a force in the world of craft beer. Created after the townspeople revolted against the mass brewery attempted to sell them substandard beer and buying back their old brewery.

There’s plenty more in the menu plans including a 12% offering made from cacao and vanilla. Want to know more? You’ll just have to nip down for the opening weekend!

General Manager, John Fitzpatrick, commented, “We want to create a welcoming and friendly environment for people to enjoy their beers and cocktails. We’ve got some great drinks planned, as well as your regular wines and a great selection of bottled beers too. Plus, of course, we’ll have a retail facility for people to grab their favourites to take home.

Tønne is set to open on the weekend of 22/23 February and you can follow them on Instagram over at @TonneBar.
