More details have been released around Leicester Horror Con, which is taking place on Saturday 22 June in town. Like your scary movies? This one’s for you!
This year the event will be held between The Guildhall and Firebug. The Guildhall, a Grade I listed building which dates from the 15th century and has served many roles including a police station and court house, provides a perfect setting! A hub of eerie happenings even led to an episode of TV’s ‘Most Haunted’ has dedicated to it.
The Guildhall will host the highlight of the convention, the “Dark Market”. The UKs best horror traders will be in attendance selling artwork, posters, toys, comics, books, DVDs/Blu-Rays and more. Traders include Alleycat Graphics, Last Shirt on the Left, Midnight Media and local distributor 88 Films.
There’ll also be some special guests appearing who you might recognise. Those appearing at The Guildhall include
– Jarred Blancard (Stephen King’s IT, The Crow: Stairway to Heaven)
– Craig Conway (Dog Soldiers, The Descent, Doomsday)
– Hugo Myatt (Knightmare)
– Madeline Smith (The Vampire Lovers, Frankenstein and the Monster from Hell)
De Montfort University will also be in attendance to display exhibition materials from their archive of Hammer Horror items, talk about the collection, moderate talks and introduce films.
Meanwhile, just a short walk away over to The Firebug guests will find the HorrorCon talks and screenings room where the program closes with a 10th anniversary screening of Sam Raimi’s Drag Me to Hell.
