Clarendon Park is in for a treat as a brand new bar concept is set to open in early November.

The Verandah Bar is launching at 71 Queens Road (the former Rosebud site), and is an Anglo-Indian inspired cocktail bar and cafe. The owners, who are local to Clarendon Park, told us they’re looking forward to bringing something totally new to the area.

“During the day we’ll be serving an Anglo Indian breakfast until around 2pm with items on the menu including kedgeree, Mumbai grilled cheese toasties and a big Maharaja breakfast, which is full English with an Indian twist. Lunch will be served tiffin style, with tandoori naan wraps and a choice of paneer, chicken, salmon or soya for our veganers! Customers will get a choice of masala chips, okra fries or gunpowder potatoes alongside this.”

As the evening comes the venue will turn towards their specialist cocktail menu, much of which has been inspired by Indian gins and whiskeys.

“In the evenings we’ll have bar snacks such as pani puri shots, okra fries, Bombay mix and Indian spiced olives. These will be served alongside a specialist cocktail menu using indian gin, Jaisalmer, and Indian whiskey, Amrut, as well as the usual classic cocktails.”

The word Verandah is Indian and the Anglo-Indian influences come through throughout the venue and menu. They’re also keen to ensure they support local and their coffee will be roasted locally in Market Harborough, with meats and other produce sourced locally too.

The Verandah bar is set to open in the first week of November. You can follow them on Instagram @TheVerandahBar for all of the latest news.
