As the summer approaches, one of Leicestershire’s leading outdoor spots is open once again for drinking and dining. The Steam Garden in Loughborough offers a relaxed setting to enjoy good times with friends and family, with the added magic of getting up close to the passing steam trains of The Great Central Railway.

The beautifully kept gardens adjoin the sister restaurant, The Station Master’s, specialising in afternoon tea and Sunday lunch. With a cosy and relaxed atmosphere, The Station Master restaurant has an old world feel with wooden beams and quaint original features.

Nestled next to the Great Central Railway inside what was once the private house of The Station Master of The Great Central Railway, the restaurant offers a carefully considered menu of modern European classics, lovingly prepared by a dedicated team of chefs with a passion for fresh food. Diners can choose to eat inside the restaurant or enjoy their meal out in the beautifully kept gardens.

Whether you’re visiting for some afternoon garden drinks or for a date night meal, the bar is well stocked with The Steam Garden’s extensive gin menu, featuring over 20 different options, and some notably interesting soft drinks as well as premium beers and a thoughtfully selected wine menu.

Throughout the summer you can enjoy afternoon tea served every Saturday and Sunday, which is the perfect way to treat the family or to catch up with friends. Priced at £20 per person, this traditional favourite features home prepared finger cut sandwiches, orange scented scones, delicate sausage rolls, and carefully crafted sweet treats on rotation (currently including a Berry Bavarois).
