New Year, new look. It’s the perfect time to reinvent your style and Butchers hair salon on Allandale Road might just be the place to do it.

We visited Butchers before Christmas as Lisa walked us through the salon, their ethos, their plant based product range and additional spa service. Oh, and meeting Bruce the dog, of course.

If you jump over to Butchers social media you’ll see their feed awash with bright hair colours and bold makeovers. We couldn’t visit without getting a pop of colour, so pink it was. Taking first steps into colour we wanted it to be subtle and Lisa hit the nail with the colour we had.

The salon uses the Aveda naturally derived vegan hair & skin care. No chemicals at all. So you know that whatever treatment you’re having on your hair, it’s in excellent hands.

Onto the salon. The space is bright and beautifully decorated with a stripped back look, foliage and natural design. One of the highlights is without doubt the hair washing room (although that seems a very basic term for us to give to a lovely space), the dimly lit room is so relaxing and then to add to the experience the chairs have a massage function so you can lie right back and wash your worries away.

Butchers is run by Lisa, an Australian hair stylist who worked with the growing Butcher’s brand in London before moving to Leicester to open her own place. Personable and friendly, with a keen eye on sustainability and the environmental impact of the industry, the salon is really a reflection of her. And it’s ace. In Lisa’s own words, “Our aim is not only to do good hair but to enhance confidence, prioritise wellness & support local community.”

As a brand Butchers push sustainability to the forefront of all that they do, including working with companies such as Green Salon Collective, who recycle all of the non-recyclable waste including hair, foils & biodegradable towels, and Tree Sisters, with Butchers making a donation for each client visit to help offset the salon’s carbon emissions).

Services start from £40 with full price list detailed on the Butchers website.

If you’re looking to make the jump into a brand new colour, or you want a relaxing new hair experience, Butchers comes v highly recommended.

Find them on Allandale Road, Stoneygate, LE2. Follow the salon on Instagram @butchers_leicester for the latest updates.

We were invited for a hair experience at Butchers and received our cut/colour free of charge. We were under no obligation to write a positive review.
