We’re lucky here in Leicester to be within such easy reach for a trip down to London. Whether you’re heading down for a show, for shopping, to catch up with friends or just to soak up the sights, deciding where to stay can be a bit of a nightmare. If you want to extend your visit with an overnight stay then be sure to check out Wilde by Staycity, who have a wonderfully located site in the heart of theatre land.

It may be only an hour on the train but when you’ve enjoyed a trip to the theatre, or you’ve had a few drinks after dinner you might not want to rush back to St Pancras to jump on the last train home. We visited the Wilde Aparthotel by Staycity, which is located on The Strand and offers a wonderful option for an extended break and  is just a stone’s throw from Covent Garden.

If you’re familiar with Staycity you’ll know they have aparthotels located in some of Europe’s best cities, including Dublin and Paris. Wilde is their newer premium brand and the rooms are fantastically furnished whether you’re staying for 1 night or a month.

Looking directly over the Adelphi Theatre

Creatively designed and fitted with contemporary furniture, their Covent Garden base contains a mix of hotel rooms and larger apartment style accommodation. Overlooking the Strand, many of the rooms look out directly onto the Adelphi Theatre, so if you’re planning a trip to see Waitress then this couldn’t be better located.

Wilde is uber-modern and check in can be done via the computers at the entrance so there’s no need to queue. In your room you’ll be greeted by a 43 inch smart TV, touch screen room control panel, Nespresso machine and more. The only minor downside is how compact the bathroom is, but the glorious rainfall shower certainly made up for that.

The comfort of the rooms was clearly a key factor when designing the spaces and falling into the large sumptuous king size bed is heaven after a heavy day shopping or exploring the sights.

Food-wise you have a range of facilities to hand in your room including oven, microwave, fridge and a range of utensils and crockery, however you can also order room service in the form of pizzas and more. With so many restaurants on your doorstep too there’s no risk of going hungry.

Of course the location plays a wonderful part. A few steps for a range of restaurants, less than 5 minutes walk into the heart of Covent Garden, a stone’s throw from cocktails at The Savoy and just a hop from the underground at Charing Cross, Embankment or Temple, it couldn’t be better located for a break in the heart of the city.

More than a home from home, it’s a dream home that’ll make you not want to go back home! As they write on the back of the room keycards, “Because life is too short for ordinary”.

Room rates vary depending on the dates of your visit, but with some dates priced from just £145 per room per night you’ll be hard pushed to find a better base and location for your London stay at that price!
