Ok, we know we write about food & drink a lot, but once in a while somewhere opens up that gets us really excited. Now that’s what happened when Grounded Kitchen opened up on Queens Road a couple of months back. What’s even better is that we don’t feel guilty eating it! Grounded Kitchen believe that great nutrition is a basic component for a happy life and they’ve built their menu accordingly. Their Korean inspired dishes aren’t built around a diet fad, but just focus on fresh, mindful eating.

Lucky for us we’re based near to Queens Road, but if you’re on the other side of the city or you fancy a Grounded Kitchen fix when you’re at work, then don’t worry because the restaurant is now offering delivery through Deliveroo!

The Grounded Kitchen menu focuses mainly on their Nourish Bowls. They offer various combinations, but also don’t be afraid to mix and match with your favourite ingredients. We have ours with no chilli at all and the team are always more than happy to accommodate us. Our go to is the Chicken & Avocado Buddha Bowl, which comes with, wait for it… Roasted bulgogi chicken, rocket, red cabbage, beetroot, cucumber, carrots, peppers and avocado. Served on a base of short grain rice and topped with spring onion, chilli flakes, fresh chillies, sesame seeds, toasted cashew nuts, coriander and a freshly prepared spicy gochujang, avocado and coriander and japanese yum sauce.

Some of our other favourites include the sweet potato and edamame, both of which can also be added as an extra topping. They also offer a bowl with Aberdeen Angus shredded steak, as well as vegetarian and vegan options. As we said, the mix of chilli toppings can be a little hot but if you want to ease yourself in just make a slight change to your bowl fillings when you order.

Prices come in at a very reasonable £4.95 (dependant on your choice of bowl) and you can upgrade to an XL version for an extra £3. The XL bowls, however, are enormous (the XL lasted us through an evening meal and lunch the next day).

For something to drink you can enjoy their Thirst Quenchers, which include Detox (with fresh juice, spinach, avocado, apple, lime, basil & spirulina. Topped with chia seeds and a drizzle of agave), Strength (with fresh juice, pineapple and coconut milk. Topped with coconut flakes, chia seeds and a drizzle of almond butter) and Brain Power (with fresh juice, blackberry, blackcurrant, blueberry & banana. Topped with cacao, chia seeds and a drizzle of almond butter), among others. Plus, of course, their organic Japanese teas.

The interior of their base on Queens Road is modern and light with both seating and take away options, plus you can have it delivered direct to your door from www.deliveroo.co.uk.

It’s a fantastic addition to Clarendon Park and one that we’ll certainly be visiting and ordering from regularly!
