When it comes to organising a special meal out in town Knight & Garter is always at the top of our list. Now, after what seems like a very long wait, we can look forward to their re-opening on Thursday 17 September.

Not just any old re-opening, no, there are some exciting changes to expect from the new Knight. The biggest change is the evolution of their downstairs Gallery space, which will now be open every weekend as a ‘Cocktail, Champagne & Oyster Bar’. The bar will play host to the best tunes from DJ Fitz whilst you crack open a bottle of fizz and enjoy Colchester Oysters.

The brunch and evening menus have also had a revamp, with both sounding absolutely delicious. The same top quality you know from Knight & Garter shines throughout and their grill menu featuring Tomahawk Steak, Sirloin in the bone and a Reuben Burger is sure to be a huge hit.

Let’s also give a mention to the incredible selection of side dishes which includes Baked Camembert Mashed Potato, Creamed Corn & Spinach, Roman Fries (topped with Pecorini cheese & truffle oil) and Fried Burford Brown Eggs to top your grill options with.

As for weekend brunch you can enjoy seafood from the Crustacea Bar, Full English, pancakes and plant based options. Waker Upper cocktails include Espresso Martini, Minosas (which can be made bottomless) and, wait for it, Cherry Coke Float. Yes, a coke float for breakfast. That’s the childhood dream. Made with vanilla gelato, cherries, coca cola and grenadine.

Knight & Garter will also be partnering with charity Hospitality Action. The charity is doing everything it can to support people in the hospitality industry who have been worst affected by the Covid crisis by selling portions of their ‘Invisible Chips’, you’ll be able to add a portion of these to your order when you visit.

Of course the bar will also be re-opening with your favourite cocktails, wines, beers and daytime food options.
