Who doesn’t like going to the pub? Exactly. That’s why we were so excited to hear about the new venture called Performance in the Pub. After hearing rumbling complaints of a lack of small-scale theatre events in the city and the common desire to enjoy artforms in your comfort zone rather than being forced into a theatre, Performance in the Pub has been born.

The first of these takes place tomorrow (Thursday 2nd February) at The Crumblin’ Cookie and will feature a double bill of solo story-telling theatre. These two shows have been put together because although they go in very different directions, they both start in the same place; with the end of a relationship. Somewhere we’ve all no doubt been at some point.

Tassos Stevens and Ira Brand will both bring us shows filled with heartfelt humour, which you can enjoy whilst still relaxing in the pub with your friends.

Doors will open at 7pm, and the shows will start just after 7:30, each show will be 45-60 minutes approx, and there’ll be a 25 minute break in between for people to get more drinks!

What’s more, set ticket prices are out the window. Yes, for these events you pay what you want, quite literally! You can watch the show and pay £5 or £3 per ticket, or if you’re unsure whether you’ll enjoy it then you can go along for free and maybe donate some door money afterwards if you’ve had a good time. Obviously, you’re in a pub so the more drinks you buy, the more money the venue will make back. So through drinking you’re also supporting the arts… we love this concept!

This is sure to be a massive hit so make sure you get down to The Crumblin’ Cookie early and see what you think.

Doors open at 7pm.

The Crumblin’ Cookie is on High Street, Leicester, next to Dominoes.
