The wait is finally over as one of the best days of the year for the local music scene swings back into town. Yes Oxjam is back for 2011 and will be taking over the Cultural Quarter on Saturday 22nd October.

Oxjam is Oxfam’s month long music festival which encourages volunteers to get involved in their local music scene to raise money to help fight poverty. Events are happening all over the country, but the team in Leicester certainly know how to put on a party.

What can you expect on the day? There’ll be entertainment from 1pm across 13 different venues, including a range of outdoor entertainment in Orton Square. Ranging from drama workshops at Curve and an Indian buffet with music at Chutney Ivy to the afterparty at Basement into the early hours, there’ll be something for everyone to enjoy. Venues involved include Exchange, The Soundhouse, The Shed, Manhattan 34 and many more and you can check out the full line up HERE.

Other things to get you excited include the great Oxjam Raffle on which you can win a £50 bar tab at Exchange, Gig tickets for the O2, sushi making lessons and all sorts! Tickets only cost £1 and you can pick yours up from Exchange bar.

So now you want to know how to get tickets right… Well, they’ll be available on the day for £10, which considering the amount of entertainment is a freakin’ bargain. The Box Office will be located near the Exchange Bar and you’ll be wristbanded up ready to go! Outdoor entertainment will go on until 7pm and after that all of the parties carry on inside. Make sure you check out the full line-up to see what treats are in store and also please take a quick read of the important info held HERE.

If you’re worried about forgetting what’s on then worry no more as they’ve created an iPhone and Android app with full line up info and maps. They’ve thought of pretty much everything!
