Leicestershire’s biggest new festival, Texfest, is taking place at Market Harborough Showground from Friday 29 June – Sunday 1 July, and will be bringing some top names to the county. So who should you be sure to see on the line-up? Here’s a run down of the top acts you can catch and read on for the chance to win a pair of tickets to be there!

EXAMPLE & DJ WIRE

One of the biggest names on the line-up is Saturday night headliner, Example, who’s coming along with his pal DJ Wire. Expect a set full of chart hits to sing along to and new material from his upcoming album. Sure to set Saturday night at Texfest alight.

Song to watch out for – Kickstarts

TINCHY STRYDER

With 3 albums under his belt, Tinchy is perhaps best known for his 2008 album, Catch22, which saw singles including Number 1, Stryderman and Never Leave You rocket up the charts.

Song to watch out for – Number 1

WE ARE SCIENTISTS

New York rock band We Are Scientists have been making waves for a number of years now, from their debut album With Love and Squalor, to hit album Brain Thrust Mastery and their newest release Megaplex.

Song to watch out for – Nobody Move, Nobody Get Hurt 

Fuse ODG

With huge chart hits including Antenna and Million Pound Girl under his belt, as well as collaborations with Ed Sheeran and Sean Paul, Fuse ODG will be the perfect Saturday night party warm up.

Song to watch out for – Dangerous Love

THE FRATELLIS

The Sunday night headliners will no provide the biggest sing along of the weekend as they blast out Chelsea Dagger. Enjoying some renewed success this year with the new album receiving great reviews and hitting the top 5 in the charts, it’s an exciting time for the band who are looking back to their best.

Song to watch out for – Whistle for the Choir

WILL VARLEY

British folk singer, Will Valley, has picked up an army of fans following support slots with the likes of Frank Turner and Skinny Lister across Europe and America. Now he’s selling out Shepherds Bush Empire for his own headline shows and his new album Spirit of Minnie has received rave reviews.

PIGEON DETECTIVES

These indie stars released 3 brilliant albums throughout the noughties winning them a large fan base as they hit every festival going from Glastonbury to year on year at Reading and Leeds. With 2017 seeing the band come back with new album Broken Glances it’s great to welcome them back to the festival scene.

Song to watch out for – I’m Not Sorry

THE SHADES

One for the youngsters, The Shades are one the UK’s best up and coming boy bands, having just come off a sell out UK tour with their catchy guitar spun pop. Band member Tristan hails from Market Harborough making this a great hometown show for him!

Song to watch out for – 24 Hours a Day

SEA GIRLS

There’s nothing like a hook-laden indie pop anthem to grab your attention and it’s even better when you find out it’s from a band with local roots. Sea Girls have managed to catch the attention of a fair few industry folk of late, from being playlisted on Radio 1 and making number 1 on Spotify’s Hot New Bands, to a Clash review hailing their “instantly infectious indie bangers”.

THE SOUTH

A sunny Saturday afternoon singing along to classics from The Beautiful South – sounds perfect. The South are formed from original members of The Beautiful South along with singer Alison Wheeler. Get ready for a sing-a-long.

Song to watch out for – Rotterdam

BEANS ON TOAST

A long time favourite of Cool As Leicester, Beans on Toast will be bringing his drunk folk stories to Texfest on Sunday afternoon. Expect a brilliantly entertaining performance with a touch of politics, a dash of humour and a whole lot of loving.

THE TIN PIGEONS

Another top local band on the line-up is The Tin Pigeons. A favourite of BBC Introducing they’re no strangers to the festival circuit and Texfest looks forward to welcoming them back for a hometown show.

Song to watch out for – Sirens
