One of this year’s most hotly anticipated cinema releases is coming to Leicester tonight as the Phoenix screens Nympomaniac volume I & II back to back in tonight’s special One Night Stand event.
This is the latest film from legendary and controversial director Lars von Trier and has been dubbed as a “sex epic” by critics. There is an all star cast in the wild and poetic story of a woman’s journey from birth to the age of 50 as told by the main character, the self-diagnosed nymphomaniac, Joe (Charlotte Gainsbourg). Whilst there’s no doubting that the double bill is sexually explicit with unsimulated sex scenes from the likes of Shia LeBoeuf, Jamie Bell and Charlotte Gainsbourg, it’s also been dubbed provocative, funny, wry and challenging.
The event at Phoenix will see both volumes of the film screened together before their individual cinema releases nationwide. Viewers can also look forward to a Q&A with the cast members screened live from the Curzon Chelsea Cinema in London.
Adult tickets are priced at £15 and the event begins at 6pm with the following timings:
