Escape to the country for an afternoon at the Burleigh’s Gin Distillery, see how the gin is made and then have a go at making your own! The Gin Academy takes place every Saturday at the distillery in Charnwood Forest and we’ve got 20% off bookings for Cool As Leicester readers.
Whether you prefer floral, citrus, herbal or spicy notes, you’ll learn how to create your own unique gin using the botanicals of your choice. Burleighs Distiller will be on hand to guide you through the process of distilling your gin, which you’ll then bottle, cork and seal ready to take home. You can even add on a personalised label.
Of course there will be plenty of time to enjoy a taste of Burleigh range throughout the experience.
A guided tour of the distillery is included within the Academy package, with the chance to see their 450 litre copper pot still, Messy Bessy. Your mini still might not quite be the same size but it will be your best friend for the afternoon! Once it’s at the right temperature you’ll fill it with your chosen botanicals and let the distillation process begin. Whilst your creation bubbles away infusing the spirit with your chosen flavours, you can sit back, relax and enjoy a Burleighs Gin & Tonic. (Don’t worry, there’ll be time to enjoy a few G&Ts during the day!)
The Burleighs Gin Academy runs every Saturday afternoon with the experience lasting around 3 hours. You can book individually or book a package for 2, which gives 2 people the full experience but they’ll create a bottle of gin between them. You can also book the experience as a voucher making the perfect gift.
