Mowgli Street Food to open in 2019

Mowgli Street Food is set to bring unique Indian street food flavours to Leicester as it’s confirmed that they’ll be opening in St Martin’s Square in early 2019.

Mowgli is all about how Indians eat at home and on their streets. Founder, Nisha Katona, wanted to bring this authentic way of eating to the main market and set about building Mowgli. The dishes on the menu are a million miles away from the curry stereotype. Instead they convey the truth that real Indian food is extremely healthy, often vegan and always packed with fresh flavour.

With hugely popular branches in Nottingham, Oxford, Manchester and Liverpool, Leicester will be the seventh Mowgli to open in the UK.

So what can you expect from the menu? From street dishes including Himalayan Cheese Toast (coriander, red onion & green chilli dressing, sharp cheddar & served with Indian pickle) and Treacle Tamarind Fries (the only lip smacking, spiced treacle, tamarind slicked fries on the planet) to Street Meats such as the Mowgli Sticky Wings (Manchurian crisped wings glazed in Mowgli spiced molasses, popped mustard seed & sesame. The chickpea batter means uber-umami & gorgeous gluten free goodness), the menu is anything but ordinary!

From The Hindu Kitchen you can enjoy a Holy Chow (vegan showstopper of spiced chickpea, potato, spinach, fresh ginger & mango served in a loaf) or from the House Kitchen the Agra Ginger Chicken (chicken breast cooked in bright fresh ginger, North Indian garam masala, sweet tomato, coriander & spinach).

Can’t decide? Get yourself a Tiffin Box and enjoy 4 tiers of meat, veg & carbs chosen to flavour match perfectly by the chef. Who knows what you’ll get – you just have to trust them!
