One of the best things to come out of lockdown was the rise of Maurizio with his fantastic traditional Neopolitan pizza. Now, he’s moving to a permanent restaurant in Leicester city centre.

Here’s all the need to know information.

Maurizio’s is located at 40-42 Belvoir Street in the former Youngs Camera Shop and Haycock & Tailbar site, and the new restaurant will be opening on Thursday 17 March. The restaurant has a very homely feel, designed by Maurizio and his wife to represent a traditional Italian restaurant. There are 2 floors of seating, with the downstairs also perfect to hire for a party with your own bar space.

Opening hours

Maurizio’s will be open Monday – Saturday from 12: 30pm – 2.30pm for lunch and then from 5.30pm – 9.30pm for dinner, before closing at 10.30pm.

Menu

The menu features all of your favourites from the takeaway site. Enjoy the Maurizio (tomato sauce, pistachios, salami, brio, pesto, truffle and mozzarella) and the David (white base, cherry tomatoes, red peppers, Bufala mozzarella, ricotta and spinach) and many more. All pizzas are made with 4 types of flour, including an ancient grain which come from different Italian regions.

As well as Maurizio’s famous pizza you can enjoy the Formaggi cheese selection, hot or cold Porchetta, lunchtime paninis and classic pasta dishes. Save room for dessert with classic Italian options including tiramisu and cannoli. Don’t miss the Bombolini (Italian doughnuts filled with Mascarpone and nutella).

All food is homemade in the restaurant, including homemade pasta. The pasta is made with egg but semolina pasta is available on request.
