A new series of city guides has been published to encourage people to get out and explore in Leicester.

Part of the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) Welcome Back campaign, “Make a Date with Leicester” encourages people to discover something new in the city and its surrounding neighbourhoods via a suite of guides, which include detailed directories, each highlighting a particular sector – from Pubs, Bars & Clubs, Restaurants and Cafes, to Hair & Beauty, Retail, Leisure and Hotels.

Whether you’re searching for a date night restaurant, a café or bar to catch up with friends, an independent retailer to buy the perfect gift from, somewhere to be pampered, the best places to go as a family, or the cosiest hotels – these guides will tell you everything you need to know, and more.

A new landing page on the Visit Leicester website showcases each of the guides, providing a link to download and read at your leisure. Printed versions of the guides will also be available from the Visit Leicester Information Centre in the coming weeks.

Leicester Deputy City Mayor for Culture, Leisure & Sport, Cllr Piara Singh Clair said: “The aim of this project is to support the sustained economic recovery of the city’s high streets, both in the city centre and commercial neighbourhood areas, after the easing of the Covid restrictions. By welcoming visitors and residents back and reminding them of the diverse range of activities and venues that local businesses provide to the Leicester community, we can help ensure their valued spend remains in the local economy.

“I hope the creation of this ‘family’ of guides to support businesses across different sectors will encourage visitors and residents to Make a Date with Leicester and discover somewhere new.”
