Have you left planning Valentine’s Day to the last minute? Here are our top recommendations to save the day!

> Peter’s Pizzeria at Welford Place opens TODAY. We’ve checked and they still have some availability for tables after 9.30pm. The wood fired pizza is among the best you’ll ever taste and you can blag it that you’d booked in for opening night weeks ago!

> Krispy Kreme also opens in the Highcross today. They’ve got a special range of Love Bug doughnuts for Valentine’s Day so go and grab a box and share it over a bottle of wine tonight.

> Dave’s Leicester Comedy Festival is in full swing and there is a whole host of shows on throughout today and tonight! You can book tickets online and tell your special someone that you’ve been planning a surprise evening for them. We recommend Joel Dommett at The Cookie at 7.15pm or for some cheeky Valentine’s Day fun why not go and see Shaggers at Exchange Bar at 9.30pm. Tickets can be booked via the Comedy Festival website.

> If you want a simple meal out without breaking the bank then why not head to Prezzo on Silver Street? Their Valentine’s menu is just £19.95 for 3 courses. Full details are available on the Prezzo website.

> Or at Spur Steak & Grill next to the King Power Stadium, they’re offering a free bottle of Rose wine to any couple ordering 2 main courses! An absolutely bargain. Visit the Spur website for menu and info.

> Or for an intimate meal we recommend James’ Cafe Bistro, which is hidden away at the back of the Highcross on East Bond Street. This cute little restaurant is a bit of an undiscovered gem and they do hands down the BEST cheesecake we have ever tasted. Your date will think you’ve gone to special effort to find somewhere intimate and cosy, so bonus points for you! For Valentine’s Day there’s even some live jazz and a free prosecco cocktail on arrival. Please see the James’ Cafe Bistro Facebook for more info.

If all else fails, there’s always an M&S Dine in for £20, which will get you a starter for 2, main, side, dessert, wine AND a box of chocolates.

Or if times are tough then ASDA’s dine in option is only £10 for a main, 2 sides and dessert.

Oh, and don’t forget a card!
