It’s hard to believe it’s almost 3 years since Knight & Garter first opened its doors! The lockdown period may mean that celebrations are a little delayed, but there are some exciting changes to come once restaurants are allowed to reopen.

We got the exclusive news about the Knight & Garter developments from owner, Sam Hagger.

Whenever we chat to people about their favourite city centre restaurants Knight & Garter is constantly up there at the top. Already a beautiful spot for dinner, there will be small interior refurbishments including table lanterns to enhance the intimate atmosphere of the restaurant, whilst outside they’ll be extending their seating area with an application to move their terrace area out further onto Green Dragon Square, really adding to the buzz in the city centre.

And the food? Now that’s where it gets exciting! You can all look forward to a brand new seasonal menu plus the introduction of a weekend Crustacea Bar featuring fresh Colchester oysters, dressed crab & plump prawns.

Whilst finishing touches are still being made to the new menu, from what we’ve seen you’re in for a right treat! From Polenta and Goats Cheese Arancini while you wait, Curried Cauliflower, Scallop and Chorizo to start, followed by Tomahawk Steak for main accompanied by Creamed Corn & Spinach, it’s set to be a highlight of the Leicester dining scene.

Other stand out items on the menu? A side of Mash ‘By The Knight’, which is described as Baked Camembert Mashed Potatoes. Let’s say that again… Baked Camembert Mashed Potatoes. And the Reuben Burger… that’s going straight to the top of our lunch list!

Of course their hugely popular Sunday lunches will still be in place and we can look forward to some exciting new twists to their cocktail experience too.

Co-Founder of Beautiful Pubs, Sam Hagger, commented, “Over the last 3 years we really feel that The Knight has been well and truly welcomed into Leicester’s eating and drinking scene. Combined with the final conclusion of Green Dragon Square & the growing popularity of our hireable ‘Gallery Venue’ which has become one Leicester’s busiest Leicester Comedy Festival venues, Knight & Garter really is, in every sense, a Beautiful Pub.”

“Our 3rd birthday celebrations may be slightly delayed but we’re very excited about the changes we’re making and really look forward to welcoming everybody back as soon as possible.”
