There’s a brand new annual music event starting in Leicester next year as One Big Day Out makes its debut at De Montfort Hall gardens on May Bank Holiday, Saturday 30 April. The event will be headlined by The Brand New Heavies and tickets are on sale now priced at just £20, which also includes free entry to the after-party hosted by Radio 6 DJ Don Letts at the O2 Academy.

The Brand New Heavies have sold millions of records worldwide with hits including Midnight At The Oasis, Dream On Dreamer You Are The Universe, Never Stop and more. Their headline slot is one of their only upcoming performances outside of London and their appearance is set to create great excitement amongst the music fans in Leicester and beyond.

Simon Bartholomew, founder member of The Brand New Heavies, had the following to say on how excited the band is to be playing at the inaugural One Big Day Out: “It’s Party Time! We can’t wait to play at Leicester’s One Big Day Out, come on down for some funky fun and frolics one and all!

Joining them on the lineup will be Original Rudeboy Neville Staple, formally of the Specials, with his full live Band, plus support from well renowned Midlands outfit Stone Foundation, latest Acid Jazz signing New Street Adventure and Leicester favourites The ParadimesJohnny and the Good Time Boys, The Funk Soul Collective with special guest Carol Leeming and DJ Tony Minvielle.
