Hotly-tipped indie band, Eades, hail from Leeds and are hitting Leicester on tour this weekend.

Described as “combining the creative values of Wilco, Sonic Youth and Sparklehorse with the immediacy of The Velvet Underground and The Clash”, they’ll be at Firebug on Saturday 25 January. Plus they’ll be joined by a cracking local line-up including Heart Sauce, Charlie Jones and Nile & Jordan (you all remember By The Rivers, right?).

Having been listed by NME as officially “ones to watch”, we caught up with the band to find out more about them.

How would you describe Eades for someone who’s never heard your stuff before?

Harry – “It’s a bit of a mix of Garage Rock, 90’s Alt-Rock, Americana and some good old fashioned 70s Rock.”

Sam – “If Indie rock was born in the 70s.”

Which 3 acts would be on your “for fans of” list?

Harry – “Twin Peaks, Wilco, MJ Lenderman”

If we were listening to you for the first time, which song should we start with?

Dan – ” ‘Reno’, it’s a bit of classic all round Eades song and has always been a highlight of our live set, both from the enjoyment of playing it and seeing audiences reactions – it always seems to get people going.”

What can gig-goers expect from your live show?

Sam – “Packed with energy and unpredictability.”

Harry – “Lots of energy on stage, lots of guitars with a healthy side of jamming and moshing.”

Dan – “Dudes being dudes + guitars.”

What’s your favourite thing about being in the band?

Dan – “Touring has always been the highlight. Despite all the travel hours, which really do suck when you’re on 8hr+ journeys, but it’s all worth it when you get to meet fans, other bands and music industry workers. Not many jobs or lifestyles allow travel to many of the places we get to go, so definitely thankful for that.”

What else do you have planned for 2025?

Dan – “We’ve recently signed to Breakfast Records, from Bristol and we have a lot planned for this year, both with releases and touring, so we’re already set for a bit of a mad one.”
