What started as a lockdown project has turned into an incredible new business for Jordan Brady and the team at JB Kitchen.
Now, they’re looking to expand on their home delivery service by crowdfunding for the money needed to open their very own premises. If you’ve tried their home delivery food you’ll know what an absolute treat it is and just what we could expect from them opening their own restaurant. That beef wellington alone is worth it on our books!
We caught up with Jordan to find out more about it.
Tell us about the new site you’re looking to develop?
The site is based on Lambourne Road in Birstall. It previously operated as a café but we want to transform it into a bistro by day, restaurant by night. The premises is currently run down so we need to do it up, install a new kitchen, bar and dining area and hopefully in turn bring a new lease of life to the village.
How will the crowdfunder help make this a reality?
Simply put Crowdfunding will help us reduce the level of borrowing we need to do. We are putting what we have into it but as Mr Tesco says, “every little helps!”
What can people expect from JB Kitchen in a permanent venue?
Freshly-made top-quality food using locally sourced produce, good coffee, friendly and attentive service, an interesting drinks offering, afternoon teas, tasting evenings and, of course, our beef wellingtons.
Did you ever expect this to be happening when you started up during lockdown?
Absolutely not! We originally started JB Kitchen to help keep us busy whilst on furlough and whilst it has definitely done that, we never anticipated we would have come this far. We are so happy it has though and can’t wait for what the future holds!
What has been your highlight of JB Kitchen so far?
It sounds cheesy but genuinely it has to be our customers. I am incredibly passionate about food and it’s amazing the level of encouragement and great feedback we have received – it spurs us on! Some other highlights have been being named as one of Cool As Leicester’s top 20 dishes in lockdown as well of being nominated for a Great Food Club Award, of course!
What are your favourite dishes that you offer?
Our Beef Wellington has to be number one just because so many people enjoy it but I also love the tasting menus as they allow me to get creative.
How would you describe JB for anyone who hasn’t tried your food before?
A taste sensation. We are all about the flavour and if you haven’t tried us before, why not?!
Will you continue the deliver service after opening the site?
Yes. We won’t stop doing deliveries as this is where it all started.
