In the run up to Mother’s Day this weekend, Highcross hosting The Mother’s Day Toy Exchange on Wednesday 27 March from 4pm – 7pm.

During the Exchange, children are invited to bring a pre-loved toy to the centre in exchange for a gift bag of goodies for their mum or indeed, for a loved one of their choice.

All of the toys collected will be donated to Menphys, a local charity which aims to provide equal choice and opportunities for disabled young people, children and their families to empower them to live as ordinary lives as possible and aspiring for the extraordinary.

As a thank you for their generosity, the first 100 kids who donate a toy will be given an exclusive gift bag packed full of gifts and vouchers from our retailers including Whittard of Chelsea, Disney, Hotel Chocolat, Muffin Break and Rituals.

Highcross General Manager, Jo Tallack, commented, “Mother’s Day presents the perfect opportunity to make your mum feel special and while we know most kids would love to buy their mum a treat, sometimes the pocket money doesn’t stretch that far.

“That’s why we decided to launch The Mother’s Day Toy Exchange – to give kids the chance to get their hands on a gift for mum while giving back to charity and donating any toys to local children who might be less fortunate. We’re proud to be partnering with Menphys and to support the amazing work they do across Leicester and Leicestershire.”

CEO at Menphys, Ian Caldwell, added, ‘’We’re really touched to be part of this great event at Highcross. Giving back to the community is something we feel very strongly about and I know the young people, children and families will benefit greatly from the generosity of this event.’’

The Mother’s Day Toy Exchange will take place on the Lower Mall outside Ernest Jones in Highcross. Make sure you get there quick to get your hands on one of our 100 exclusive gift bags.
