If you’re heading to BBC Radio 2 in the Park in Leicester this weekend you can look forward to some excellent food & drink options.
Organisers have pulled together a trader list of over 50 different outlets, with over 50% of them being local businesses from Leicestershire.
There’ll be everything from cheesy pulled pork to vegan kebabs and we’ve pulled together a few of our highlights.
Samosa Wallah
Based in Melton Mowbray, many say they do the best samosas around. Handmade and delicious with meat and veggie options, they’re made with light pastry and rammed with filling.
That Filthy Food
We became big fans of the That Filthy Food food truck during lockdown when they kept popping up around Leicestershire in their converted airstream. They’ll be site serving loaded fries and more. When they say filthy, they mean filthy, and they’re well worth a visit.
Roaming Giraffe
Fancy an afternoon snack? Leicestershire’s Roaming Giraffe will be offering Farmers Market choices from pork pie to salads and cakes. Using local suppliers, expect your bakes fresh from Market Harborough and homemade savoury items. They’ll also have a second unit serving up loaded jacket potatoes and toasted sandwiches..
Dhil’s Vegan Street Food
Home of the Vegan Mixed Grill, Dhil’s is another Leicester start-up. Catch them cooking up favourites including their vegan kebabs, loaded fries topped with vegan chicken tikka, their vegan wings, and they might even bring along some of their famous deep fried Oreos if you’re lucky.
Northern Cobbler
A Clarendon Park favourite, you can head down to the Northern Cobbler van in the park to enjoy your favourite coffee blend throughout the weekend.
Alpine Pizza Company
The Alpine Pizza Company will be back on home Leicestershire turf for the weekend. Enjoy a tasty meal from their wood-fired pizza trailer. With hand stretched doughs and quality toppings, such as this favourite with Salsicciamo Tuscan sausage, fior di latte and friarelli.
The Cheesy Pig
A new street food entry for us is The Cheesy Pig from Lincolnshire. Expect freshly made cheesy pulled pork, with added cheese, and more loaded cheese, and maybe some mac & cheese on top. Loaded fries, burgers and more for all the meaty and cheesy goodness you need to power you through the day.
Bamboo Street Food
Bamboo Street Food have recently announced the closure of their city centre restaurant, but you can still enjoy their plant based menu on the road. Tandoori vegan kebabs, loaded fries, cauli fries, vegan shakes, and more.
Ranv’s Rasoi
Ranv’s Rasoi are popping over from Warwickshire and serving up some live-cooking, traditional Punjabi cuisine. Fish pakora, Aloo tikki, Chickpea curry, Paneer pakora, Masala fries, make sure you head over to visit them to see what’s on offer this weekend.
Urban Cheesecake
If you fancy a sweet treat during the evening then look no further than Urban Cheesecake. These guys have been popping up in Leicester since the early Canteen days and they’re back with some Kylie-styled epic cheesecake. Expect the creamiest, homemade Vanilla cheesecake loaded with outrageous toppings. A great way to finish off your weekend foodie plans.
Drinks
As well as the incredible food options there will be a range of bars on site over the weekend. On top of the main bars selling a range of wines, beers, spirits and soft drinks, there will also be a Wine Bar, Champagne Bar and Craft Beer bar. For craft beer fans, make sure you head over and check out some different beers including a few familiar names, such as Enderby’s Mill Hill Brew Co represented amongst the cans available. Their Leicester themed cans are perfect for this big Leicester event.
Other food options at the event include burgers, noodles, fish & chips, greek gyros, churros, ice cream and more. There’ll also be a phone charging station and festival glitter stalls, among others. The best thing to do is get down to the festival site early and explore.
Let us know which stalls you visit over the weekend and tag us in your posts @coolasleicester on all social medias.
